Her duties included menu planning, recipe development, catering and production of a wide variety of high- end desserts. Where to begin?! Joanne is amazing...what a discovery! With just a minimal, undeveloped theme to work with, Joanne ran with our "feeling of fall" idea and created savory and sweet treats that made everyone's mouth water. With every step, Joanne went above and beyond to ensure our event went off without a hitch. Her vision really came to life with every single detail from the beautiful presentation, to the delicious food all the way down to the precise unloading and clean-up. We went to so many different places looking for the right cake and price. Sweet Creations was the most affordable and had the best variety we had seen. The personallized cake tasting was like no other and won us over the first day. We also had her customize cake decorations with leaves so that the cake would follow the fall theme and they bought table clothes to match my theme. I have hired Joanne Thompkins to cater several small dinner parties for me over the past few years. I don't bother looking for anyone else to take care of these kinds of things for me because her dishes are wonderful. Her meals have always impressed me and my friends/associates.
Last year (2005) I recommended Joanne to an acquaintance of mine who was hosting a party at a private club in Washington, D.C. for over 75 guests. She was responsible for the entire dessert arrangement which consisted of cakes and pies. I also attended. Her dishes were one of the highlights of the evening.

Thanks so much for the wonderful birthday cake you made for my father's 70th! You were so creative; I found the cake to be the focal point of all the decorations! Everyone couldn't stop asking me who did this fantastic and creative design. You were so easy to work with. Each time I called you with an idea, you were more than happy to try to incorporate it into the design of the cake. You also gave me some great ideas! I never expected the cake to look that great! And this was all before the tasting of it! Believe me, I wasn't sure I could bring myself to cut it! However, once cut for everyone's enjoyment, we were glad we did. The cake and icing were so unusual and complimentary. Thanks so much for suggesting the combination. You really know what people will enjoy. I had more than one person come back for seconds and even thirds! I'm glad now that I ordered a cake larger than what I thought I'd need...
